- The novel takes place
during the Great Depression. When was the Great Depression? Almost everyone in the country
felt the effects of the Great Depression. List some of
the affects the depression had on average Americans?
- There are many parallels
between the trial of the TKAM character Tom
Robinson and the actual historical Scottsboro Trials. List at least 5 of the
similarities.
- There are several
themes in To Kill A Mockingbird, list at
least 2 of them. Here is an additional

- How does the title
To Kill A Mockingbird relate to the story? Also, who
is/are the Mockingbird(s) in the novel?
- Choose any 2 of the
following characters (Atticus, Boo, Jem, Scout, Dill,
Bob Ewell, Calpurnia or Tom Robinson) from the book and write a character profile/analysis.
- Certain elements from the
book have symbolic relevance. Choose any two elements
from the book and explain the symbolism. Some possible choices are the
mad dog, the tree house, the snowman, the gun, Atticus
